Students must be role models in the area of scholarship, which is the first qualification for consideration in the NJHS. Scholarship means having a deep appreciation for learning and academics. Students who have a 90% average as established by the local school’s Council, meet the scholarship requirement for membership.

This quality is defined through the voluntary contributions made by a student to the school or community, done without compensation and with a positive, courteous, and enthusiastic spirit. Honor students are always eager to lend a helping hand and love to serve others.
